Small business owners who rely solely on a brick and mortar location have had a brutal Holiday season. As expected, retailers had one of the worst holiday shopping seasons in decades, with sales falling by double digits in nearly all categories according to Spending Pulse, a macroeconomic report by Master Card.

The report said that in November retail sales sand 5.5 percent compared with a year ago. On a brighter note, online commerce sales were much brighter. Amazon reported its “best ever” holiday sales season.

This afternoon I have the pleasure of speaking to ASTD in Lakewood, Colorado. We are talking about blogs and how they can increase your web presence and traffic to your site. We reviewed several blogs and websites for seo and marketing strategies.

I’ve been following the saga of Marc Rasmussen who is a Sarasota Florida Realtor. Marc has spent years growing his real estate business in Sarasota. His time, efforts and money have allowed him to be in the first position of a Google search. Life is good-right up until the Sarasota MLS board decided to steal his domain name.

The Sarasota board decided that since Marc had MLS in his domain name-they would exercise a little eminent domain. Truth is, The Sarasota MLS could not displace Marc from his number one ranking so they decided to take this despicable action. Morgan Carey was the first to sound the alarm on the thieves of the Sarasota MLS Board and his efforts have created a ground swell of support for Marc!

If you make money on the Internet and believe in true SEO efforts please read these articles and spread the word to prevent this happening to others.

I gave Google Insights a test run this morning-impressive! Let’s look at a specific example. I put the phrase professional speakers into Google insights search. It gives you a graphic representation of the search volume for the phrase professional speakers since 2004.
